Construction begins at £13m Leeds College of Building campus

Clugston Construction has started the state-of-the-art campus, which is located alongside the college's existing South Bank

Clugston Construction, part of the privately owned Clugston Group, has started work on a brand-new £13m campus development for Leeds College of Building in Leeds’s South Bank, with the development due for completion by the end of 2018.

Representatives from Leeds College of Building, Clugston Construction, Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and architecture practice Fuse Studios were all on site to see work commence.

The state-of-the-art campus, located alongside the college’s existing South Bank campus, will include a 5,200 square metre, four storey building with a range of classrooms, workshops and an impressive central atrium.

Phase two of the Hunslet campus is being supported by an £11.9m grant through the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Growth Deal. As part of this funding, £1m will also be spent refurbishing the North Street campus.

Leeds College of Building has been providing specialist further education on construction since 1960, and offers more than 200 courses across a huge range of disciplines. The college has built a reputation for first-class education and training. 

Once constructed, a large proportion of Leeds College of Building’s 7,000 students will attend the two South Bank sites, with the remainder using the college’s North Street campus.
