EAUC Conference - Global Goals: Local Action

The 21st EAUC Annual Conference will take place at Lancaster University on 28-30 March 2017

Posted by Hannah Vickers | January 28, 2017 | Events

This year’s theme, Global Goals: Local Action, recognises the critical role universities and colleges across the planet have to play in finding and implementing a solution to climate change and realising the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs/Global Goals) on a local level within their communities.

Iain Patton, EAUC Chief Executive, said: “The SDGs are the world’s new to-do list and this conference will inspire and empower universities and colleges to take the step-change needed.

“Our students and their learning are instrumental in delivering the Global Goals and shaping all our futures. Students have the commitment and energy, so it’s up to us in the lecture room and on the campus to ensure they leave our institutions with the knowledge and skills they need to become effective agents of global understanding and local action.”

The 2017 Annual Conference will bring together delegates from every area of campus life, from the further and higher education sector.

Delegates include those responsible for environmental management, estates and facilities, finance and procurement as well as curriculum leaders and students.

Delegates

Delegate booking is now available at www.eaucconference.org.uk

The main conference will take place on Wednesday 29–Thursday 30 March 2017 with two full days of content that will include a number of engaging plenary sessions, including an inspirational keynote delivered by Mary Creagh, Chair of the Environmental Audit Select Committee.

During the conference, there will also be more than 35 optional breakout sessions, all of which are streamed around the Sustainable Development Goals and allow delegates to tailor their conference experience to suit their job role and experience level. With workshops submitted by colleagues working in roles across the sector, these sessions have plenty to offer university and college professionals at every level.

There will also be a range of pre-conference activities taking place on Tuesday 28 March 2017, including extended workshops and sessions to showcase Lancaster University’s sustainable activities. You can view the full programme online to find out more.

Networking

The conference, which is supported by headline sponsor Carbon Credentials, provides opportunities for all attendees to network during the exhibition and also offers a varied social programme.

This year there will be a pre-conference dinner organised for the night prior to the conference on 28 March on campus at Lancaster University, so if you’re planning on arriving the night before, come and join us!

The Annual Conference Dinner will be held in the evening on 29 March in Lancaster University’s Great Hall where delegates will enjoy a Food for Life Gold-accredited three-course meal and some very special entertainment!

If you or your team would like to attend this event, please visit www.eaucconference.org.uk to book.
