Education Estates once again opened its doors at Manchester Central to a host of delegates looking for insight and thought leadership on the world of estates in education going forward in to 2017

As usual Education Estates delivered, splitting key notes in to three different groups; Schools, Colleges and University and maintenance and facilities management.

Sessions of particular note came from Trevor Payne Director of Estates at Birmingham University who strategized the role of university estates for 2017. Caroline Buckingham of RIBA gave insight in to the buzz topic of 2016 ‘Better Spaces for Learning’. A  guide to creating a market via procurement and funding which was delivered by  Rachel Williams the Capital Projects Lead of Academies Enterprise Trust, Jim Tebbutt the Bid Director of Priority Schools North East Batch at Galliford Try and Mike Green the Director of Capital - Education Funding Agency.

Knowledge sharing aside, Education Estates hosted a rip-roaring awards night and shone a light on the amazing work suppliers and contractors have been doing over the last year in facilitating and delivering some amazing education projects.  Big congratulations to The GlaxoSmithKline Centre for Sustainable Chemistry for winning the college and university project of the year award. Likewise, adulations to Harraby Community Campus for winning the schools project of the year.

In the ever-changing world of facilities and estates in education, it’s reassuring to know that Education Estates is there to unite the industry each year to recognise the astonishing achievements and development we’re seeing from the sector and to provide regular pearls of wisdom to ensure facilities and estates teams continue to overcome the multitude of challenges put in their path.
