Modular specialist Integra Buildings has announced a £3m investment to capitalise upon rapid growth in the sector.

The company – one of the UK's leading designers and manufacturers of innovative and bespoke off-site constructed modular buildings – has purchased six acres of industrial land for £1.6m and plans a further £1.4m investment.

The location at Paull, east of Hull in East Yorkshire, is adjacent to a 2.5-acre site already owned and operated by Integra Buildings. The acquisition will enable the company to launch a programme of capital investment to increase manufacturing capacity and take advantage of major opportunities in a sector experiencing significant expansion.

This is the perfect time for us to develop more of the innovative manufacturing processes for which we are noted and strengthen our position as a leading player in the UK modular buildings market - Gary Parker, Integra Buildings Managing Director

Integra Buildings Managing Director, Gary Parker said: “This major investment will allow the physical expansion we need to enable our business to grow and move to the next level.

“This is the perfect time for us to develop more of the innovative manufacturing processes for which we are noted and strengthen our position as a leading player in the UK modular buildings market.”

The strategic development plan includes the creation of two bespoke production facilities, amounting to 72,000 sq ft of manufacturing space, within existing buildings on the site.

Subject to planning permission, Integra Buildings will also build a new, two-storey modular office block at the heart of the site, relocating the company’s offices from nearby Burstwick, East Yorkshire. The new 8,300 sq ft offices will be a showcase for the quality of materials and design available to Integra Buildings’ clients.

The investment will bring together in one place all the company’s production of modular buildings for permanent installation for clients across a wide range of sectors and highly durable and anti-vandal modular buildings used predominantly for construction sites. The new, state-of-the-art facilities will be fully operational by early 2018.

The investment will enable Integra Buildings to seize major opportunities from the rapid growth in the off-site manufacture of buildings, as a wide range of clients recognise how innovative modular solutions make building projects easier, cheaper and faster, with no compromise on quality.

The growth of the sector is illustrated by off-site construction being a major theme of UK Construction Week in October, which includes the industry’s largest showcase at the NEC in Birmingham.

Integra Buildings Commercial Director, Chris Turner said: “The old image of modular buildings as prefabs is a thing of the past. Modular building is the way forward in the construction industry.

We’re passionate about this form of construction and with this investment we will be practising what we preach by creating our own new modular office block, showcasing the superb quality and innovation we offer to our clients - Chris Turner, Integra Buildings Commercial Director

“A wide range of sectors are recognising the benefits of modular, off-site construction and we are seeing that in the exceptionally strong demand for our products.

“We’re passionate about this form of construction and with this investment we will be practising what we preach by creating our own new modular office block, showcasing the superb quality and innovation we offer to our clients.”
