Contemporary Art, photography and early years degree courses, as well as maths and english, will be accommodated at the multi-million pound centre in Loxton Road.

Director of Higher Education, Anthony Murray, said: “Demand for Higher Education places at Weston College is increasing and we need more accommodation.

“We now have 800 students, 22 Foundation Degrees and ten Honours top-ups in partnership with Bath Spa University and the University of the West of England.

“Twenty two per cent of our students achieved a First Class Honours Degree in 2012 – 6% above the national average – and 99% of them were in employment within six months of completing their degree.”

Degree students also have their own dedicated University Centre at Knightstone Campus in the town centre.

The £800,000 architecturally-designed space with natural materials includes lecture theatres, open study area, welfare and support rooms, plus science laboratories.
