Multi Academy Trust, Education for the 21st Century (E21C), is delighted to announce it has received permission from Bromley Council to begin construction of Eden Park High School in Balmoral Avenue.

The decision was made at a meeting of the council’s Plans Sub-Committee at the Civic Centre on 22nd February. Construction is expected to begin in March 2018. This means the school, which opened in temporary accommodation at The Ravensbourne School in Hayes Lane last year, will move on its permanent site in time for autumn term, September 2019.

Headteacher Emily Codling said: “It’s a fantastic outcome, which means we can now start the incredible transformation of our school site on Balmoral Avenue. The team at Eden Park High School can’t wait to see the innovative plans come to life as the building goes up.  It really is going to provide the best learning environment for our students who are equally as excited to be on our permanent site.”

The new school which operates extended hours, is helping alleviate a chronic shortage of secondary school provision in the Borough, ultimately providing 1,600 places for local students.

Approval for construction to begin, the final stage in the planning application process, was awarded unanimously by council members.  The members were asked to consider detailed applications including proposals for landscaping, wild life habitats and optimising energy consumption as well as minimising disruption for local residents during building works.

There will be regular reports on the progress of the build over the coming months via the Eden Park High School and E21C websites and social media.
