The new company, which will be headquartered in Ireland, has a substantial presence in the UK, due to its portfolio of well-known brands, such as Briton, Dor-O-Matic, Martin Roberts, CISA, Interflex, Normbau, Randi and Schlage. The company will also have regional corporate centres in Carmel, Ind., U.S.; Brussels, Belgium; and Shanghai, China.

Allegion’s UK business will continue to be based at its head office in Walsall in the West Midlands, which employs more than 270 staff to service and support the UK market. Other than the name change the company has made no changes to its normal account management structure or the regular sales contacts for its customers.

Allegion (pronounced uh-lee-juhn) will be a stand-alone company focused solely on security technologies. It will operate in more than 120 countries around the world and has revenues of $2 billion per year.

Mark Hoskins, Vice President Sales at Allegion, commented: “Allegion is a new name, but the company has a long heritage in manufacturing and supplying state-of-the-art security products and solutions into the UK market. Our technical expertise remains and the message to customers is very much business as usual.”

He continued: “Allegion is now very much a stand-alone and focused company solely dedicated to security technologies. We are confident that our customers in the UK will quickly come to recognise and trust the Allegion name and that it will become synonymous with commercial and residential security.”

Dave Petratis, Allegion chairman, president and CEO, added: “For more than a century, we have been pioneers in developing products that help keep people safe where they live, work and visit. This is an opportunity to carry forward the best of Allegion’s heritage, expertise and entrepreneurial roots while becoming bolder at capitalising on major trends in commercial and residential security. As a global enterprise, we will continue to lead the industry in defining and raising the standards for safety and security everywhere.

“The future of our company and the entire security industry lies in addressing the needs of an increasingly connected world. That’s why we intend to invest in the electronic side of our business moving forward, all while maintaining our same level of dedication to the continuous improvement and advancement of our mechanical products.”
