The seven-week project, delivered by Warden Construction, saw extensive internal reconfiguration to the 2,500 sq ft space to meet changing needs.

Works included improvements to the early years learning environment to expand activities offered, which included the introduction of a modern sensory room, as well as enhanced security benefits.

In addition to childcare, play and early learning, the nursery provides a range of services including links to expert advice on training, finance and healthcare, as well as parent and toddler groups.

Alistair Baines, chairman at Cassidy + Ashton, said: “The UK is currently suffering a shortage of high-quality childcare places and our number one goal was to ensure we created a space for outstanding early years provision as well as meeting the children centre’s current and future needs.

“We’ve a wealth of experience in the education arena and understand the benefits of designing physical environments that contribute to a child’s development and support staff and parent goals.”

Roger Farley, head of primary at Unity Academy, said: “We are rightly proud of our recent Ofsted judgement of outstanding in all areas, which reflects our sharp focus on continual improvement. Investment in staff and facilities are key aspects in sustaining this success.

“These improvements in the Nursery’s infrastructure will further enhance and extend our outstanding provision. Our nursery manager, Jenny, working closely with our partners, has created a unique experience for our youngest students that will ensure the best possible start in their education and enhance their learning and overall experience.

“We are thrilled with the result and invite and encourage anyone to come and take a look around. The Nursery has a real wow factor!”
