A groundbreaking ceremony has been held to mark the start of work on the multi-million pound sports centre at Rossall School, in Fleetwood.

The build will see a much-needed sporting facility, including a 50m sprint track, multiple indoor courts, viewing gallery and fitness suite.

There will also be parking and changing facilities.

The project is being delivered by construction and infrastructure company, B&E Boys Ltd, and sports hall design and construction firm, Ball Hall. They were joined by Head of Rossall School, Mr Jeremy Quartermain, and members of the Rossall School Council, including Mr Chris Holt, Chairman of the Governors.

Mr Chris Holt, who opened the proceedings, said: “We are delighted and enthused to be able to begin the build for the long-awaited state-of-the-art Sports Centre. This will greatly enhance the School’s current facilities for our students and will be a superb addition to the community. This would not have been possible without the all the hard work and determination of the School Bursar, Mrs Emma Sanderson and our Director of Development, Mr Henry Shepherd.”

The project is expected to be complete in time for the start of the 2019 academic year.
